Event Notes
The UVA tour was now back in full swing, as the second half of the tour
started up after the mid-tour all-star break. Weather was once again great for
playing a little beack volleyball; warm and sunny with the high in the 80s.
Women's uvA division had Bonus Points leader VanDruff looking around for a new partner,
as her usual partner, VanDyke, may have been incarcerated and unable to make bail for this
event. VanDruff's choice of Fix was good, but not good enough as Fix/VanDruff lost to
Cox/Kingston. Women's uvB finals had an exciting finish as Gorski/Richards squeaked out a
close one over Brouse/LaVine.
In the men's uvB draw, the team of Goodman/Gorski came out of nowhere to sweep through the
competition and beat Mack/Strollo in the finals. And finally in the men's uvA division, the dominant
team of Killian/Rank were pushed to the limit by tour veterans Frey/Klaczany. Killian/Rank faced game point against them several times in the finals; a position they are not used to being in. The lead changed back and forth as the teams took the score beyond the the normal game 15 points. Killian/Rank managed to bend but not break at they
gutted it out and held on for the win. Obviously, sending a message that they weren't yet ready to give up their title.
