Event Notes
Early morning showers and more clay than the French Open still couldn't stop
a record turn out of 42 teams for the annual event called 'Sellars Fest'. Sloppy
conditions had UVA crews working feverishly on court drainage as play started. The courts
were eventually cleared and, as an added bonus, a big ol' mud jacuzzi was constructed between courts for the players
to enjoy (sometimes not by their choice!).
Although the event's namesakes (the Sellars Sisters) didn't fare too well in their division, there
was plenty of action in all the divisions. The new team of Dyer/Pilny scored
a win on their first
event together as they defeated Brouse/Evans in the Women's uvB finals. In Women's uvA, Vandruff /VanDyke
are a perfect 2-0 in the finals as they teamed up for their second win in as many events with a
topping of Carson/Cummings.
Men's uvB had Coonradt/Daniels break through and win for the first time this summer as they
defeated Dumas/Symons. And, finally, on Championship Court the Men's uvA finals played out
as Banerjee/Frey attempted to stop the Killian/Rank train and ended up where every one else
who has tried to stop them this summer - 2nd place.
