The Underground Volleyball Tour - Bonus Points Pool

U.V.A. BONUS POINTS POOL FAQ
Q: What is the Bonus Pool?
A: The UVA Bonus Points Pool is the player ranking system used for the UVA tour's Summer Series. Top ranked players at the end of the Summer Series will share in the $2,000 Bonus Pool Pay Out!
Q: What are Bonus Points?
A: Bonus points are what you earn each time you play in a UVA sanctioned event. They determine the top ranked players at the end of the Bonus Pool.
Q: How do I earn Bonus Points?
A: It's simple. The more events you play in and the better you do, the more points you earn. Other variables, like event format, event size, and making the playoffs also increase the number of points you can earn at each event.
Q: Who can qualify to be in the Bonus Pools?
A: Any member of the UVA automatically qualifies for the Bonus Pool and has their points tracked. You may join the UVA any time during the Summer Series but only your last event's points will be counted toward the Bonus Pool. You forfeit all other points you may have earned as a non-member. What can we say? Join early!
Q: Is there more than 1 Bonus Pool?
A: You bet. There are actually four different pools: Women's uvA, Women's uvB, Men's uvA, and Men's uvB.
Q: Can I be in more than one Bonus Pool?
A: Yes. But each pool counts separately so you really wanna concentrate your points in one pool to get the highest possible ranking and hopefully capture some of the bonus payout!
Q: Do Bonus Points transfer from one pool to another?
A: Yes and No. Points transfer from higher level (uvA) to lower level (uvB) adjusted accordingly. Points do not transfer from the uvB pool to the uvA pool.
Q: When does the Bonus Pool start and end?
A: The Bonus Pool runs for the duration of the tour's Summer Series. This is usually from May to September.
Q: Is my Bonus Point Total or Bonus Pool Ranking more important in the Bonus Pool?
A: Both are important. Your rank determines if you get some of the Bonus Pay Out. Your point total determines how much of the pay out.
Q: What events count toward the Bonus Pool?
A: Any of the "sanctioned" events on the tour's Summer Series. Be sure to check the tour schedule to see which ones count.
Q: Is there a difference between earning points in 2s versus 4s?
A: Yes. Typically you get less points for formats with more players. Hey, you're not doing as much work. But...and there is a but...the formats with more players often have a bigger draw, so you have the potential to earn more points and a bigger playoff bonus.
Q: Do I have to be a member of the UVA to compete in the Bonus Pool?
A: Yes. Only current members of the UVA qualify and earn points for the Bonus Points Pool.
Q: Can I wait to see how I do on the tour before joining and then collect all my Bonus Points from previous events?
A: You mean like playing in a few events, trying to figure out how many points you have, realizing you're in the money, so you join the UVA to qualify for the Bonus Pool? Nice try, pal. When you join the UVA, only your last event's points will be counted. (So if you register after playing all day, that was your one event!) If you're smart, and we know you are, you'll join prior to the Summer Series kicking off, so yuo can earn maximum points in the Bonus Pool.
Q: How are the Bonus Pool winners determined?
A: The top ranked ten to fifteen percentage of players in each of the bonus pools is taken.
Q: How is the Bonus Pool payout percentage determined?
A: After the top percentage of the pool is determined, the top players' point totals determine how much of the cash they get. For example, if two players are the only ones to make the top percentage, and player X has accumulated 100 points on the tour and player Y have accumulated 50 points. Player X will get 66% of the cash and Player Y will get 33%. Got it?
Q: Is this the Bonus Points Pool FAQ?
A: yes. (duh.)
